Winter Courses 2018: Grades 3-5
Classes meet on Saturdays from 9 to 10:30am, or 10:30am to 12pm, as listed under Course Descriptions. A minimum enrollment of 5 students may be required for a course to be conducted. Maximum enrollment in a class ranges from 12 to 17. Students may enroll in one course or two.
Dates: January 20, 27, February 3, 10, 23, March 3
Move over Steven Spielberg! This film-making experience will incorporate elements of screenwriting, film-making, and editing, giving students a chance to learn and delve into all aspects of making a movie. Students will work collaboratively throughout the three -tier process and the end result will be their very own original film.

Do you love technology and figuring out how things work? If so, this class will be a perfect match! Coding class provides an innovative approach for students to learn computer programming skills through interactive projects. Students will learn basic JAVA coding and programming, while also incorporating logic, physics, and important problem-solving skills. Students will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively in order to challenge and learn from each other.
Required technology: Students must use their own Mac or Windows-based laptop computers that will allow downloads. Chromebooks and tablets will not work.

Time: 10:30 – 12 Noon
This course introduces students to basic web design using HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). The course does not require any prior knowledge of HTML or web design. Throughout the course students are introduced to planning and designing effective web pages; implementing web pages by writing HTML codes, enhancing web pages with the use of page layout techniques, graphics, images, and multimedia. The end result will be a fully functional website and perhaps the start to a lucrative business!
